Web Site Development Fact Sheet

Project management is a mix of messages, to-dos, milestones, chat conversations, file exchange and copywriting. To collaborate with our customers Spiderz employs the use of Basecamp which is one of the most popular web based project management tools.

Three step development process followed for our:
Push Button, Startup and Catalog Web Site Packages

The following steps guide our web design process. Each step is revisited several times during development and our process is cyclic in nature.

  • Artwork & Design
This includes creation of your website’s look and feel and development of your web interface. Graphic designs are created in-house and clients are free to request modifications. Clients must provide logo artwork, product photos and texts to speed-up the design process. Spiderz can help you develop your corporate identity, acquire stock photos and write web site copy (additional charges are applicable).
  • XHTMLing and Programming
The actual nitty gritty that occurs once site design and layout has been completed. All web design tasks are posted to our team via Basecamp with graphic snapshots of intended functionality. Spiderz believes in rapid-application-development and we employ RAD tactics to achieve our development objectives in the most effective manner.
  • Quality Assurance & Delivery
Testing your site is a crucial process and irons out any inconsistencies in code or design. We review all project components during development and ensure that your site looks perfect.

Four step development process followed for our:
eCatalog, CMS, eCMS, WebApp and EbEntSysIntg Web Development Packages

A different route is taken when developing dynamic web sites. Here are the steps we follow to ensure quality web development practices:

  • Artwork & Design
This includes creation of your website’s look and feel and development of your web interface. Graphic designs are created in-house and clients are free to request new or modified versions. Clients must provide logo artwork, product photos and texts to speed-up the design process. Spiderz can help you develop your corporate identity, acquire stock photos and write web site copy (additional charges are applicable).
  • System Analysis and Design
A two-way discussion on your web app leads to system analysis and design. This process involves discovery of your business process, work flow and overall parameters that govern your system. With an Information Systems Specialist on board, Spiderz is well equipped to slice and dice your program requirements and develop a data structure to create your system architecture.
  • Databasing & Programming
The actual nitty gritty that occurs once site design and basic html work has been completed. All web development tasks are posted to our team via Basecamp with graphic snap-shots of intended functionality. Spiderz believes in rapid-application-development and we employ RAD tactics to achieve our development objectives in the most effective manner.
  • Quality Assurance & Delivery
Code translates to form, function and interaction. Testing code is a crucial process and irons out any inconsistencies in code or design. Web development is a cyclic process and as we develop applications we run them through continuous testing. Our policy is based on excessively testing our systems once development is complete. Clients may participate in testing during development and identify potential caveats and work-flow issues.

During Development

A project co-ordinator is assigned to you and at times two project co-ordinators may work with you on the project. The primary responsibility of the project co-ordinator is to ensure all communication takes place through Basecamp and project information is made available to our developers.

Client Feedback: How to deal with inconsistencies in design, form or function

If something is not right, or not as expected, you’re encouraged to express your observations as follows:

  • Make a list of all the issues you’ve noticed and message them across to us. Do consider that at most time the inconsistencies you may point out would be on our private lists on Basecamp. They may only exist for a particular reason and your project co-ordinator will explain why.
  • Create a To-Do list on Basecamp and assign tasks directly to our staff. This is a surefire way to get the quickest response since it engages our team directly and does not require someone to post if to our developers. All To-Do items are automatically emailed to the person to whom you assign them.
  • Establish a balance between a need and a want. Your developer may discourage the use of a certain feature due to unwanted/extensive programming (writing a spell checker when a library may be used) or out of scope requests (add a new module that was never discussed earlier). If your system works differently than expected, please request an explanation from our team and we’ll help identify this issue. It may be that our developers made a decision on your behalf or simply corrected a want to a need.

At Project Completion

A project is complete when a website goes live and is available to the public. This may also happen when a client wants to publish a web site as a BETA project. Once a project is live, we allocate one month for live testing and support (from the date of going live).

During this period we test, review and fix any issues or bugs that are discovered. New features are not added during this time and the client may not request program or design flow changes.

After We’re Done

Once our test and review period of one month expires, we offer project support under our web site maintenance services program.

Cancellation

  • Project cancellation is possible if we receive a signed and stamped letter requesting cancellation from the client. At cancellation all advance payments are considered realized and earned.
  • Project scope may not be drastically altered once the project has been awarded and work has begun. In such cases, Spiderz may halt the project and request a review of costs or consider canceling the project at its discretion. All fees paid are considered realized. Advance payments are not adjusted with any products or services, at any time.
  • Spiderz does not offer a full, partial or pro-rated refund/credit on any advance payments or deposits made for our services.

Payment

  • Web Design projects are subject to a 50% deposit at time of approval of quote and subsequent placement of our first invoice. Once the project is complete a final invoice of 50% is placed and payment is due. Projects may only go live once all pending dues are cleared.
  • In case a domain name or web hosting account is setup along with your project, our domain name services and web hosting policies are applicable.
