Dead link checker!

I use this free tool whenever we publish a new website – https://www.deadlinkchecker.com/

The name tells it all – dead link checker – looks for all the broken links within your website.

If you don’t know what a dead or broken link is, it’s simply an HTML link that no more works. A broken link often points to a destination that’s either moved or has been deleted.

To check your site, simply enter the URL of the site into the Free Broken Link Checker box, type in the captcha and proceed. Dead link checker will literally parse through all your site’s pages and look for any links that now lead to dead ends.

It then builds a neat list of all broken links and the source page of that link, so you can go in and update your website.

In the recent test that I have run for spiderz.com (see the screenshot above), I got one broken link error message, which is for our WhatsApp chat link, and this seems to have been rejected by WhatsApp after detecting the dead link checker bot/crawler. Otherwise, all our site links are valid.

A good rule of the thumb is to test your site for broken links right after you’ve made some updates to it. That way, you can fix whatever is broken, right away.
